A photo of a hiking trail and the text: Make the Drive to These 3 Hiking Trails Near Medina, OH - Rick Roush Honda Blog

Hiking is one of the best ways to get some mood-boosting cardio while enjoying the fresh air and reconnecting with nature. Fortunately, there are plenty of great hiking trails in the Medina, OH area that you can enjoy if you have a reliable vehicle, like a 2024 Honda HR-V. Here are our favorite trails that we feel are worth making the drive to.

1. Chippewa Inlet Trail

Our favorite hiking trail in Medina is Chippewa Inlet Trail. You can access the trailhead from Buckeye Woods County Park at 6335 Wedgewood Rd. From the start of the trail to the park’s athletic fields, you can expect a crushed limestone hiking path. The part of the path that continues south from the athletic fields is asphalt, ending at Chippewa Road. Between these trailheads, you can take in the beauty of:

  • An upland pine stand
  • Wet woods
  • Restored wetlands

2. Hinckley Lake Loop

If you prefer loop trails over out-and-back trails, Hinckley Reservation has you covered. Hinckley Reservation at 432 Bellus Rd is home to several loop trails, including our favorite, Hinckley Lake Loop. This 3.1-mile loop circumnavigated the 90-acre Hinckley Lake and passes by Johnson’s Picnic Area. You can stop at the picnic area and enjoy a snack while watching the local anglers try to catch dinner.

You can also connect to the 3.3-mile All Purpose Trail that passes the East Drive Ballfields. If you want to spend all afternoon hiking, there are plenty of miles to explore at Hinckley Reservation. However, you should keep a close eye on your park trail map. Some trails must be shared by equestrians. Additionally, you can access the 1,444-mile Buckeye Trail from the Hinckley Lake Loop trail.

3. Austin Badger Park Trail

Finally, we recommend the Austin Badger Park Trail, accessible from Austin Badger Park at 5741 River Styx Rd. This 3.5-mile paved loop trail offers a moderate challenge due to its many hills, but it is well worth checking out. If you want to push yourself harder, you can hike The Austin Badger, Aaron Smith, and Thomas Currier trails without leaving Austin Badger Park.

Hiking all three trails gives you roughly 6.5 miles of beautiful scenery to enjoy. There are also four exercise stations along the Austin Badger Park Trail that you can use to work your upper body.

There are lots of walking trails in the Medina area that are worth driving to. Just remember that your car needs to have its tires rotated every 5,000 miles to maintain proper vehicle handling and ensure uniform tire and tire tread wear.
