Hondas are well-known as extremely safe and reliable vehicles. When you switch on the engine of a Honda today, you have more sophisticated car safety features protecting you than ever before. The following are six excellent examples, all of which you can see more of with a test drive at your local Honda dealership. Collision Mitigating Braking System Your Honda uses a forward-facing camera and radar transmitter to monitor the road ahead and detect any potential collision threat. When a collision risk is identified, you're warned in three ways: visually, audibly, and sometimes with a slight tug on your seatbelt. If your car judges that you haven't responded in time, it will apply strong braking to avoid or reduce the impact. In some models, it will even tighten your seatbelt just before a potential collision. Road Departure Mitigation System Any number of factors might cause you to accidentally wander toward another lane or the edge of the road. The Road Departure Mitigation System constantly monitors the lane markers. It detects any unintentional drifting and promptly steers you back safely into the center of the lane. Adaptive Cruise Control Your Honda takes a great deal out of the stress of driving with Adaptive Cruise Control, which keeps your car automatically following the road while maintaining a predetermined distance from the cars ahead. This feature allows you to relax with your hands off the wheel, so you can arrive refreshed at your destination. And it's particularly helpful for disabled drivers. Low Speed Follow Adaptive Cruise Control is further improved by Low-Speed Follow, which allows your car to automatically stay at safe distances behind other vehicles even at very low speeds and in slow-moving traffic jams. When your car slows to a halt in traffic, a light tap on the throttle will reactivate Adaptive Cruise Control and start you up again. Traffic Sign Recognition System With a modern Honda, you're far less likely to ever receive a speeding ticket because you failed to notice a speed sign. The external camera on your car reads all recognizable traffic signs and displays them clearly on your dashboard display. Blind Spot Information System The risks inherent in making turns when a cyclist or motorcyclist may be in your blind spot are greatly reduced by the Blind Spot Mitigation System. Your car keeps a constant eye on your blind spots at all times and alerts you clearly whenever another vehicle enters these zones of reduced visibility. Ask for a Demo at Your Local Honda Dealer You can learn all about these top-notch safety and driver-assist features at your local dealership. Pay a visit and ask for a demo of everything a modern Honda has to offer in terms of safety and security. The staff will be happy to oblige. Visit Rick Roush Honda today to test drive your favorite Honda model. We're a locally trusted dealership offering a broad inventory of new and used vehicles and attentive, personalized customer service.

Your brakes are one of your Honda's most essential safety features, as they enable you to control your speed at any time. Brake components can wear out or get damaged, and this affects your Honda's braking ability. As your Honda dealer, we'd like you to know some of the signs that you need to visit us for a brake repair. Signs You Need a Brake Repair at Your Honda Dealer Soft Brake Pedal The braking system contains braking fluid, and this fluid is highly pressurized. High pressure is essential, as the average weight of a Honda is approximately 4,100 lbs, and the braking system must force it to stop moving almost instantly when you hit the brakes. You can feel the pressure inside the system as resistance when you press down on the pedal. If you step on the brake pedal and you feel little resistance, you have a serious brake problem. The lack of resistance means there is either a leak in the system and brake fluid is draining out, or there's an air bubble in the braking system. The lack of resistance means your brakes will be slower to respond than they should be and could even fail. We'll find and fix the cause of the problem. Overheating Brake Fluid When you hit the brakes, the pressurized brake fluid is forced into the brake hoses and lines. Once you take your foot off the brakes, the fluid is withdrawn. If you have to ride your brakes, for example, you're driving downhill or are stuck in traffic, the brake fluid is kept in the hoses and lines. The pressure in the system generates heat, and this can cause the fluid to overheat. If you smell a foul burning chemical smell, your brake fluid could be overheating. If this happens, we advise pulling over ASAP and allowing your brakes to cool. Driving with overheating brake fluid is dangerous, as it loses its ability to generate hydraulic pressure. Without this pressure, your brakes are likely to fail. We'll examine your braking system to determine any other cause for the overheating fluid. Visible Damage Most of the braking system can only be seen from underneath your car. You can, however, see several of its vital systems by looking through the spokes of your wheels. If you kneel, you can see the flat rotor behind each wheel, the brake caliper that's positioned above the rotor, and the brake pads inside the brake calipers. If you use a flashlight, you might see signs of damage like a jammed caliper, scouring on the rotor, or even a small leak from a worn hose. Our technicians can more closely examine the system and repair any problems we find. If your brakes are slow to respond, or show any other signs of trouble, call us ASAP at Rick Roush Honda.

You're at your Honda dealer looking at the car of your dreams and all ready to buy. Except you haven't secured any financing yet. You know you can go to your bank and get a car loan from them, but your dealership also offers financing. So, which should you choose? We're going to give you four good reasons to stay at your dealership and obtain your car financing there. 1. It's Convenient You're already at your dealership looking at cars, so why make an extra trip to go to the bank? Even if you talk to your bank before your car search, the time it takes to contact them again when you're ready to buy means you could lose out on the car you've found. Besides, when you secure your loan from your bank or other financial institution, you have to do all the work. At your dealership, they're ready with the paperwork and have done all the work for you. 2. You're More Likely To Get a Loan If you have bad credit, your bank isn't likely to give you a loan. And even if your credit is decent and you do get a loan, it's likely to come with high interest rates. However, your car dealership doesn't make their money off of your loan: they make it off of the actual car sale. This means they're a lot more likely to take a chance on you and offer you a loan. 3. You'll Be Offered More Flexible Terms When you get a loan from your bank, the payment terms are likely set out for you and will often come with a set interest rate. Dealerships tend to offer very generous loan terms and interest rates to get customers in the door. 4. You'll Get Some Loan Amount Flexibility Your bank will give you a set amount for your loan and unless you want to re-apply or come up with more money yourself, that's the amount you have to work with. However, often you'll find a vehicle that's perfect for you that's slightly above the amount you have, or you want some additional features added on. Securing your loan through your dealership means you can apply for the amount you need when you go to purchase your dream car. At Rick Roush Honda, our goal is to give you an interactive tour of our inventory and get you a quote. Our friendly staff will then happily schedule a test drive, answer any questions you may have, and help you apply for financing. Visit Rick Roush Honda online today to take an interactive tour and start your vehicle buying journey.

The alternator is the center of your Honda's electrical charging system. It produces electricity, which is then transported to all your car's systems and devices. If your alternator is worn or damaged, your Honda dealer can fix the problem. These are a few signs that you may need an alternator repair very soon. Signs You Need an Alternator Repair at Your Honda Dealer Burning Smells As the alternator ages, it gradually becomes weaker. Components start to wear out or fail, and the alternator won't produce the level of electricity it once did. When your alternator can't produce enough power the electrical shortfall will become apparent. Signs of a lack of electricity in your car's headlights becoming dim, frequent electrical glitches, and other issues. When the alternator can't produce enough power, your car's computer will instruct it to work harder. The alternator will spin faster to try and generate more power, but a worn alternator will quickly start to produce a strong burning smell. This smell is caused by the metal heating up as it struggles to produce electricity. Our technicians will examine your alternator and replace it if it's worn out. Flickering Headlights Headlight bulbs have a varied lifespan depending on the type of bulb. When a headlight bulb starts to fail, it will usually flicker for a while before it finally burns out. These bulbs can also flicker if the electrical supply they receive isn't stable. Bulbs require a constant and consistent power supply to operate correctly. If your alternator is wearing out, the power it supplies will drop. Your car's computer will have to adjust the power supplied to each component to maximize the usage of the available electricity. This can result in fluctuations in the amount of power supplied to the headlights, and they will flicker as a result. We can test your alternator for you. If your alternator is failing, we'll install a new one to fix the problem. Damaged Belt Tensioner The alternator is powered by the movement of the serpentine belt. This belt is connected to the crankshaft, and it runs across a series of pulleys. As the crankshaft turns, the belt moves and causes the pulleys to spin. One of these pulleys is connected to the alternator, which produces electricity in response to the movement of the serpentine belt. The belt is maintained at a constant tension by the belt tensioner. If the belt is too loose, it can slip off the pulleys. A belt that's too tight could snap. If the belt tensioner is damaged, the belt won't move at a consistent rate. This slows down the movement of the alternator and accepts your car's electrical supply. We'll examine the belt tensioner and adjust or replace it depending on the situation. If you suspect a problem with your alternator, call our service department at Rick Roush Honda.
