What to do after a car accident

Accidents happen. They may or may not always involve a car. When someone finds themselves in a car accident, they know the basics. There is no need to go over what most people should have learned in their driver’s education classes. What should a person do after the legal and medical technicalities are done?

If the owner’s car can leave under its own power, the best thing to do is get it to an ASE certified mechanic to find out if there is any additional damage done to the car. The mechanic can readjust seat belts and take care of other items that need to be fixed after more severe accidents.

Why go to a mechanic if no obvious damage is seen? Because mechanics can find additional damage the layman might not have seen on casual inspections. These reports are important for insurance companies. It also keeps undiscovered problems from causing issues later.
