Four Honda Models Take Home Five True Cost to Own Awards

This year, four Honda models swept up a handful of awards in the Edmunds.com Lowest True Cost to Own (TCO) Awards. The 2011 awards spanned 23 categories featuring cars and trucks that offer the lowest True Cost to Own over a five year period. The score is tabulated using an algorithm based on depreciation, interest on financing, repairs, and any federal tax credits that may be available to buyers.

The Honda Accord snagged awards in two categories: the $20,000-$30,000 Sedan and the $25,000-$35,000 Coupe. Consumers on Edmunds.com give the 2011 Honda Accord a 4.5-out-of-5-star rating, and Edmunds recognizes its generous passenger space, wide visibility, economic gas mileage (23 mpg city/33 mpg highway), high resale value and the optional two-door body style.

In the Hybrid segment, the Honda Civic Hybrid grabbed the award. Consumers gave the 2011 Civic Hybrid a 4-out-of-5-star rating. Edmunds.com lists vehicle pros as: fuel economy (40 mpg city/43 mpg highway), a variety of engines and transmissions, comfortable interior and the optional two-door body style.

The Honda Ridgeline brought home the award for Large Light Duty Trucks because of its excellent ride and handling, spacious cabin, dent-resistant bed, multi-operational tailgate and hidden trunk compartment. If Edmunds.com list of pros isn't enough, consumers give the 2011 Honda Ridgeline a perfect 5-star rating.

When it comes to SUVs, the Honda Pilot boasts a comfortable ride, third-row seat, smooth transition V6, exceptional crash test scores and a myriad of interior storage options. With all of those benefits, it's no wonder the 2011 Honda Pilot was the top of the heap in the $35,000-$45,000 segment.
